Our Story
Falling Leaves : Return to Roots, Return to Heritage, Return to Nature.
Our name, Falling Leaves, is based on the Chinese proverb, "Falling Leaves Return to Roots." The idea was born from the search for a unique offering to visitors and locals that reflects a return to the nature and heritage of Polizzi Generosa, Sicily, my acenstral commune. Emmigrating back to Polizzi Generosa after generations, we searched to offer a unique service that refelcted the natural beauty, bounty, and the heritage of the village.
This area of Sicliy is and has long been known a the "Bread Basket of the Roman Empire". Our fermented and distilled products, although not all traditional products of the region or the village, strive to use local (0km) grains and produce for which the area is, and has been, well known for since before the Roman times. Our focus is on beers that strive to be sourced from locally harvest grains and barley, malted in house, to produce hand-crafted, artisanl brews that reflect the local and seasonal flavors, maintaining an European style infused with American know-how. Our ciders make use of seasonal fruits, fermented and kegged during the season, and consumed while fresh. All batches are 1 barrel or less and allow us to take the time and patience to craft a fresh, flavorful product, without added or chemical preservatives, that will exceed expectations. Our distilled products represent traditional recipes dereived from the village heritage, capturing the aboundance of fruit and nuts from the local farms and orchards, preserved through distillation only, to extend the flavor throughout the year, well past the peak growing season.
Our Bed and Breakfast strives to provide "generous" hospotality reflective of the local community. Our goal is to offer local flavors that tantalize your pallete in the morning, help with exploring and navigating the local region during the day, and then provide rustic-luxiouious accomodations to relax and rest in after experiancing everything the Modonie Mountains have to offer.
